| One of the true meccas of roadside America, Cadillac Ranch was created in 1974 by The Ant Farm and funded by "eccentric helium millionaire" Stanley Marsh 3 (that's "three", not "the third" -- he thought the latter pretentious). In short: 10 Cadillacs nose-down in the dirt. Graffiti is encouraged. What surprised me was how much of a community thing the graffiti was -- being encouraged, it became a release... families happily getting their tagging desires satisfied in a safe space. |
